[Perlfect-search] excluding directories

I am trying to exclude several directories from being indexed. 
The indexer is listing the directories I want to exclude under the
Loading 'no index' regular expressions:

However, it then shows the directories being indexed. Am I writing the
path wrong?

Here is what I am inputing:
/c31/server/ttncounseling/*
/c31/server is the root path and ttncounseling is the directory I want
to exclude.

This is listed in the 'no index' regular expressions in the indexer and
then under crawler' it lists all the files under this directory-which
means it is not deleting the directory and its files from being indexed.
