[Perlfect-search] excluding directories to be indexed

I am trying to exclude some directories from being indexed and some will
exclude and others will not even though I use the same path, i.e
ttnanorexia/*
ttnfood/*
excludes the files in these directories, but

new/*
splash/*
will not exclude files in these directories

What's up?
