[Perlfect-search] error with indexer at startup

hello,

i just installed perlfect 3.09 on a unix box and i ran into an error when i 
first tried running indexer.pl. the error was: Missing $ on loop variable 
at ./indexer.pl line 36

i'm not very well-versed in perl and so i need help with this one.
